Monkscloth - $45, Linen - $52
Another piece that looks great in a folk art/country decor home. The one above was hooked by Lynnette Larson.
Louise Gleason, one of my artistic students at home, needed a holiday rug in a hurry! So she whipped up the “Angels on High” below in only a couple of weeks!

A fun rug to do! Cat and Snowman, above, nicely done by Hildegard Edling, who comes for class all the way from NY.
The one in the middle, below, was hooked by Connie Pratt. Love the sunset. The one below on the right was hooked by Susi Seyllor, nicely done; and the one below on the left has a nice little braided edge around it.

This wintery pattern can stay out weeks after the holidays! Spot dyes will make it come alive. You can use leaded glass outlining, or cloissine gold. This pattern also comes in half the size for a table mat.
Usually people buy this design in the rug size I offer, but Karen Leger liked the 18″ square size. Christmas Glass is so festive, either size!

Monkscloth - $79, Linen - $97
This was the final design for my series of 4 pictorial rugs, each showing a different season, and featuring a different quilt border. My challenge for this was to hook it without using any red or white; both major Christmas colours. I was honoured to have it appear in Jessie Turbayne’s book, and in Celebrations.
On the right is another “Christmas in the Country“, wonderfully hooked by Anne Maharrey. It’s always fun working with Anne; we used some of her wools and some of mine. The border colours really complement the interior!
Jennie Adcock hooked this stunning “Christmas in the Country”… we’d started it a few years ago at a workshop. Nice to see it all complete with a fabulous border!
Every time I see “Christmas in the Country” hooked up, it is different and creative. The one by Joanne Montgomery is no exception.

These can be quickly hooked up using leftovers. I think it takes longer to sew them!

Janet Frew, a longtime student here, hooked this cheerful “leftover” rug.

A good pattern to learn shading on; it’s not too big and can be very colourful. I like the muted tones and the attractive shading in the top “fall harvest.” The bottom one is a #5 cut, and looks great in my kitchen.

An easily done Christmas rug. . .and one to learn to hook a face on, as well!

This one makes gardeners happy, with it’s border of tools and related items. Lots of fun here!

This would also be fun to decorate with trimmings!

A very popular Christmas wall hanging. You can incorporate metallic thread or yarn for the star and wise men if you like.
If you have a photo of a finished piece, let us know!

These can be simply hooked, or try adding trimmings such as metallic thread, sequins, or Illusion. I prefer linen over monks for these as there are less threads to deal with when finishing them off.

This was designed by Melody Hoopes and the one above was hooked by Karen Detrick. It’s fun to have the pumpkin as the frame!
The beautiful “Pumpkin Farm” at the bottom was nicely (and quickly!) done by Angie Rowland. We started this at a Baltimore workshop in the spring, and the next time I saw her in mid-summer, it was in the Caraway camp rug show. I love the variety in the grass.

These two are now mounted on foam board and come out during the Christmas season as a lean-against-the wall decoration.
Very folk arty, they look good in country decor homes!

Ann Tuttle’s Sleigh Ride (the top one) looks like a Victorian postcard.
The left one, below, is a particularly attractive Sleigh ride…I love the two-tone gold background! The right one, below, was hooked by Louise Gleason, a talented student here. She also made it into Celebrations in 2006.
